Resources on Current Legislation

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

For those of you who haven’t visited, www.opencongress.org is a great site for information on current actions in Congress. Being able to track bills (and people) as they move through Congress and are amended is important to our being able to understand, speak and respond to current legislation. The official site for legislative information is the Library of Congress, THOMAS

While it isn’t light reading, you should check out H.R.3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. This piece of legislation represents a monster of Federal bureaucracy and the end of private health insurance. The larger issue is that it creates a system of medical care where life and death decisions are based on economics and society as a whole, not what is morally and ethically right for the individual patient.

On behalf of the Henry County Republican Party, welcome to our website. Over the next several weeks, we will be redesigning our website to create a more interactive and dynamic experience. It is our goal to further reach out to our community via this website. As chairman, it is my goal to consistently write about a variety of topics and issues that affect all of us at every level. While we continue to expand our e-Republican party site, please feel free to provide feedback so that we may continue to meet the needs of our political base and community.

The Henry County Republican Party meets the first Tuesday of every month. Our meetings are open to the public and are held at the Henry County Administration Building, 140 Henry Pkwy., McDonough, GA 30253. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM. Please join us!
